Link Limit or Maximum Size for XML Sitemaps

An XML sitemap file has a maximum limit of 50,000 URLs and the size limit of 10 megabytes (MB) per sitemap. However, multiple sitemaps are supported by Google, and therefore If you have a large website with more than 50,000 URLs, it is permissible to divide the number of URLs in to as many parts as necessary.

If you have a large website with more than one sitemap, the best option is to create a sitemap index file. Site index files can define up to 1000 individual XML Sitemap files.
